BEHAN Family History
This interesting surname is of Irish origin, and is an Anglicized form of the Gaelic 'O'Beachain', meaning descendant of Beachan, a personal name from a diminutive of 'beach', bee. The O'Behans originally came from the juncture of Counties Kildare, Offaly and Laois, and they were notable principally as a literary family, two of whom were mentioned in the Annals of Loch Ce and the Four Masters as eminent historians, they were Conor O'Behan (died 1376) and Donal O'Behan (died 1411). O'Beacain was an older form of the name, while Beahan, Beaghan and Bean are occasional variants; in County Kerry the Munster tendency to emphasize the last syllable has made it Behane...Select Audience

Patrick Bahen emigrated to Canada 1842 with family .The only child's name I know was John my great great grandfather born 1823 Ireland ,. The family has a note saying Patrick Bahen married Richard Buckey daughter,
Richard was piked the night of the Roman Rebellion.
That's all I know about my Irish connection.

I am building a Family Tree through Ancestry and came across a relative named Mary Ellen Behan born about 1814 in Co Tipperary, Ireland and passed away in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada - looks like her parents were Jeremiah Behan and Catherine Flynn both born in 1790 - might have been married to Thomas George Edge in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada - would like to hear from anyone who know more about these families. Thanks
